Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mystic Spearhand Build Guide

In this Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mystic Spearhand Build Buide, we’ll be talking about an advanced vocation, Mystic Spearhand. This Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mystic Spearhand Build Guide will contain how to unlock it, what its role is, stamina management, and what skills & equipment are good for this vocation.

How to Unlock the Mystic Spearhand in Dragon’s Dogma 2

This will contain spoilers, so you might want to skip this part if you don’t want to get spoiled. At some point in the story you will be traveling to the town of Melve (about 5-10 hours in), and as part of the quest will be to fend off a dragon. Once you fend off the dragon, you can then speak to the NPC Sigurd to unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation. If you miss him there you can find him in the southern most region of the map, and you can use the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Wiki for his exact location, but it will take longer to unlock this Vocation.

Role of a Mystic Spearhand in Dragon’s Dogma 2

A Mystic Spearhand Build’s role in the group is a mix of both a support and a DPS. Not only can you use crowd control on enemies, you can also bubble your group to help in combat. It has a very advanced style of play compared to other classes. It has a high skill floor, and also a higher skill ceiling. If you master this class, you’ll be kicking ass. It can be a bit challenging to learn, but it will eventually pay off with all the possibilities this vocation can do.

Pawn Pairings for a Mystic Spearhand in Dragon’s Dogma 2

As stated earlier, the Mystic Spearhand is both a support and a DPS, so you’ll probably want to have a tank or a healer. Having a healer or another DPS is fine, as long as you fill your party’s gaps appropriately.

Basics of Mystic Spearhand Combat in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The first thing you’ll need to know is that when making a Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mystic Spearhand Build, is that you will be using your basic attack a lot. You’ll eventually be upgrading it to Winding Cut, which allows you to swing your dual spear really quickly. You can use it by pressing the basic attack repeatedly once you unlock the ability. Learning when to use the basic attack and Winding Cut is important as a Mystic Spearhand. A good tip for when to use Winding Cut is to use it when the enemy is down or cannot respond to the attack.

Second, you’ll be using your heavy attack, Magike Cut. It will be a staple in your move set, as it is complemented by Forbeding Bolt. Forbeding Bolt stuns enemies, making them vulnerable, so you can use Magike Cut as a finisher on trash enemies. You can charge Forbeding Bolt while attacking, so you can charge it while running into combat. Mastering Forbeding Bolt’s will help you CC large enemies constantly, as you can repeatedly re-apply the status effect it gives to enemies.

You’ll be using Dragoun’s Foin as a gap-closer on this Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mystic Spearhand Build, so you can use that while charging Forbeding Bolt. A thing you can keep in mind of is to charge Forbeding Bolt while killing an enemy using Magike Cut, then use it again to finish them off. It’s kind of tricky to know the timing to use this, but it’s a good move to learn.

Next is Quik Fot. It’s a skill that allows you to instantly teleport to your target. This is a skill you can use as a gap-closer to enemies, wherein you’ll use your combos to finish them off.

Stamina Management for Mystic Spearhand

Stamina Management is very important to all vocations, but it’s not a huge deal for Mystic Spearhand as you’ll be regularly using your regular attacks. Forbeding Bolt doesn’t consume stamina, but it does prevent you from recovering stamina while charging it. You may run out of stamina due to this, so keep in mind to always allow your stamina to replenish periodically.

Avoid sprinting carelessly, so you won’t consume stamina as much as possible. Make sure your equipment load isn’t high as it will affect your stamina consumption and recovery. If you are in a sticky situation, you can always use food and items in a pinch to recover stamina.

Skills to Use as a Mystic Spearhand

Dragoun’s Stabbe | Dragoun’s Foin

Dragoun’s Stabbe, or Dragoun’s Foin as its upgraded version, will be the first skill you receive as a Mystic Spearhand. You can teleport instantly to your enemy, so it has many possibilities for its usage. It can be casted from a far distance, so you can knock an enemy out of the air or even hit a tall enemy in the face using it. You will use this for dashing between enemies or rushing into combat, especially if the enemies are too far away for other spells.

Mirour Vesture | Mirour Shelde

This will be the Mystic Spearhand Build’s defensive skill. Thieves can sidestep, fighters can block, but Mystic Spearhands don’t have a way to do either. This will be your way of dealing with melee attacks, as this puts a damage shield on you and on nearby allies for a very short period of time. If you are anticipating an attack wherein you can’t dodge, you can cast this skill to mitigate damage. This is a very strong skill, although situational. as you won’t be needing it all the time.

Skiedragoun’s Fangtooth | Skiedragoun’s Feste

Skiedragoun’s Fangtooth, or Skiedragoun’s Feste, is good for jumping up in the air and landing down on the enemy. When you combine Skiedragoun’s Fangtooth with Dragoun’s Foin on a flying enemy, they’ll land on the ground for you to plummet down on top of and deal damage. You can also use this to mount on monsters such as dragons or cyclops. If you hit the enemy’s weak spot, it will deal a lot of damage.

For the fourth slot, you can use any skill you like. You can explore any skill you want which you think will be complementary to the skills listed above through trial and error. Personally, I use Seching Storm, a skill which tosses out blades that attack enemies.

Equipment and Augments for Mystic Spearhand

A Mystic Spearhand Build uses both Strength and Magic for their stats, so you’re going to be on the lookout for augments and equipment that boost both of these stats. You’ll be dealing both physical and magic damage, so you should find a good balance between these two.

Equipment-wise, you’ll be using a duospear as this is the only weapon that can be used by Mystic Spearhands. Use the best armor and duospear you can find, and make sure to upgrade these when you can. For rings, you’ll be looking for damage boost. You’ll find a ring that increases your damage when you attack an enemy’s weak spot. This ring will be beneficial for you as Mystic Spearhands are great at targeting weak spots. Also, be mindful of your character’s equip load for your stamina recovery and consumption.

That concludes our Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mystic Spearhand Build Guide, and we have many others as well for you to check out. And you can use the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Wiki as well if you have further questions.
